un-graduated

I learned a few days ago that the BA I received in Spring, the graduation walk I took , the tea ceromony I had (where I was told to stand and say my name is blablabla BA and everyone than repeated it several times), was a hoax(?). So now I am to take back those two little letters and become just blablabla again. I wonder if this is common?
